Tips:

  • For a flaky crust, use a combination of butter and shortening. Butter provides flavor, while shortening helps to keep the crust tender.
  • Be sure to chill the crust before baking. This will help to prevent the crust from shrinking and becoming tough.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the cheese into thin slices. This will help the cheese to melt evenly throughout the pie.
  • If you are using a pre-made pie crust, be sure to prick the bottom of the crust with a fork before baking. This will help to prevent the crust from bubbling up.
  • Bake the pie in a preheated oven. This will help to ensure that the pie cooks evenly.
  • Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will help the filling to set and will make the pie easier to slice.
