Time 50m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 cups rice, cooked
1 lb asparagus, sliced
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
2 cups ham, cubed
1/4 cup almonds, slivered

Steps:

  • Place cooked rice in the bottom of a well greased 10x6 baking dish.
  • Top with sliced asparagus.
  • Melt butter in a saucepan; blend in flour.
  • Add evaporated milk and water; cook until thickened.
  • Turn off heat.
  • Add salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Add cheese and ham.
  • Pour over rice mixture.
  • Sprinkle with almonds.
  • Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use fresh asparagus: Fresh asparagus has a crisp texture and a sweet flavor that pairs well with the ham and cheese. If you can't find fresh asparagus, you can use frozen asparagus, but be sure to thaw it completely before using.
  • Don't overcook the asparagus: Asparagus should be cooked until it is tender but still has a slight crunch. Overcooked asparagus will be mushy and lose its flavor.
  • Use a good quality ham: The ham is one of the main ingredients in this recipe, so it's important to use a good quality ham that you enjoy the taste of. A smoked ham or a honey-baked ham would both be good choices.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the ham and cheese: This will help to prevent the ham and cheese from tearing when you're wrapping it around the asparagus.
  • Be careful not to overfill the crescent roll dough: If you overfill the dough, it will be difficult to seal and the filling may spill out during baking.
  • Bake the crescent ring until it is golden brown: This will ensure that the dough is cooked through and the filling is heated through.

Conclusion:

This ham, cheese, and asparagus crescent ring is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It's made with simple ingredients that you probably already have on hand, and it can be assembled in just a few minutes. The crescent ring is also a great way to use up leftover ham and cheese. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy appetizer, give this ham, cheese, and asparagus crescent ring a try.
