Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 1/2 lb hamburger
1/2 c chopped onion
1/2 c green pepper
1/2 c italian bread crumbs
1/2 c parmesan cheese
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp thyme, dried
1 tsp oregano, dried
3-4 small zucchini
3-4 tomatoes, overripe or 1 can diced tomatoes
2 refrigerated pie crust
1 Tbsp milk
coarse grind black pepper for sprinkling

Steps:

  • 1. Brown hamburger and add onion and pepper. Cook until tender.
  • 2. Add garlic salt, thyme, oregano, bread crumbs and cheese.
  • 3. Place pie crust in pie plate and layer sliced zucchini, meat mixture, tomatoes and repeat another layer.
  • 4. Place top crust over the top and brush top of crust lightly with milk and sprinkle with coarse black pepper.
  • 5. Bake at 350 for 30-45 min or until crust is browned.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh zucchini, tomatoes, and ground beef will give your pie the best flavor.
  • Grate the zucchini: Grating the zucchini will help it cook evenly and release its moisture.
  • Brown the ground beef: Browning the ground beef will help to develop its flavor and keep it from becoming dry.
  • Use a good quality cheese: A sharp cheddar cheese or a blend of cheeses will give your pie a delicious, gooey center.
  • Don't overcook the pie: The pie is done when the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. Overcooking will dry out the pie.

Conclusion:

This hamburger zucchini pie is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover ground beef and zucchini. The pie is filling and satisfying, and the combination of flavors is sure to please everyone at the table.
