Time 1h

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni, raw
1 lb ground beef
6 slices bacon, diced
1 medium onion, diced
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed tomato soup, undiluted
6 ounces water
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/4 cup red wine
salt and pepper
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup reserved pasta water

Steps:

  • In a cup mix together the water, tomato paste and wine, set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cooked diced bacon until crisp, drain and transfer to a bowl.
  • In the same skillet with the bacon drippings, sauté the diced onions until tender, mix in garlic during the last couple of minutes and transfer to the bowl with bacon.
  • Discard bacon grease and cook ground beef until no longer pink, drain and add in tomato soup, tomato paste mixture, onions, bacon, and stir until combined, season with salt and pepper, reduce heat and simmer while pasta cooks, stirring occasionally.
  • Cook pasta according to package directions and save 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  • Add drained pasta to skillet and stir to combine, add pasta water as needed if mix is dry.
  • Top with cheese, cover and cook until the cheese is melted.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh ground beef, flavorful cheese, crispy bacon, and perfectly cooked pasta make all the difference in this dish.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the beef: This will prevent it from cooking evenly and becoming dry.
  • Cook the pasta al dente: This means it should be tender but still have a slight bite to it. Overcooked pasta will become mushy and ruin the dish.
  • Use a flavorful cheese blend: A combination of cheddar, Parmesan, and mozzarella cheese provides a rich and gooey texture and flavor.
  • Don't skimp on the bacon: Crispy bacon adds a smoky, savory flavor to the pasta. You can also use pancetta or guanciale if you prefer.
  • Serve immediately: This dish is best enjoyed fresh out of the pan. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Hamburger pasta with cheese and bacon is a quick, easy, and delicious meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. It is also a great way to use up leftover hamburger meat. With its hearty flavors and satisfying texture, this dish is sure to be a hit with the whole family. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy pasta dish, give hamburger pasta with cheese and bacon a try. You won't be disappointed!
