Provided by AZRoxy63

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 20m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb lean ground beef
6 -7 potatoes, diced with skin still on
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 green pepper, diced
1 red pepper, diced
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
salt and pepper
ketchup
4 tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Cook ground beef in skillet and drain.
  • Pour vegetable oil into skillet heat on medium high.
  • Add potatoes, peppers, onion, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper.
  • Cook until potatoes are browned on the outside and soft on the inside, approximately 10-15 minutes.
  • Drain oil from poatoes and place in large bowl.
  • Add ground beef and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Stir in ketchup until the beef and potato mixture is coated to your liking.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use fresh potatoes. Fresh potatoes will have a better flavor and texture than potatoes that have been sitting around for a while. If you can, buy potatoes that were harvested within the last few weeks.
  • Boil the potatoes until they are just tender. You don't want the potatoes to be too soft, or they will fall apart when you mix them with the other ingredients.
  • Brown the hamburger and onions before adding them to the casserole. This will give the casserole a richer flavor.
  • Use a variety of cheese. A combination of cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese will give the casserole a delicious flavor.
  • Top the casserole with crushed cornflakes before baking. This will give the casserole a crispy topping.
  • Serve the casserole hot out of the oven. This is when it will be at its best.

Conclusion:

Hamburger and O'Brien potato casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is also a great way to use up leftover hamburger and potatoes. With its simple ingredients and rich flavor, this casserole is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
