Time 1h55m

Number Of Ingredients 6

10 pound spiral ham, boneless, fully cooked (pre-sliced)
1 cup apricot preserves
1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Place the ham in a roasting pan or 9X13 baking dish, cut side down.
  • In a saucepan, combine the apricot preserves, dijon mustard, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cloves. Whisk ingredients together and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once it comes to a boil, remove it from heat.
  • Brush 1/2 of the glaze over the ham. Make sure the glaze gets between the slices.
  • Cover the pan tightly with foil so the ham doesn't dry out. Bake for 90 minutes or per the package instructions.
  • Remove the ham from the oven and brush the remaining glaze on top. Save a little for serving if you like. Increase the oven temperature to 425°F. Return the ham to the oven uncovered. Bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the ham gets a nice brown outer layer.
  • Transfer the ham to a serving platter. Let the ham rest and slightly cool for 15 minutes before serving. Slice and serve with additional glaze if you saved some.

BAKED HAM RECIPE WITH FRUIT GLAZE

Baked Ham Recipe With Fruit Glaze image

This delicious baked ham recipe features a simple glaze made from peach, apricot or pineapple preserves, along with mustard and dried pepper flakes.

Provided by Danilo Alfaro

Categories     Dinner     Entree

Time 4h30m

Yield 20

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 15-pound bone-in smoked ham, labeled "ready to eat" or "ready to serve."
1 cup fruit preserves (apricot, peach or pineapple) (Also see variation below.)
2 Tbsp prepared mustard
1 to 2 tsps dried pepper flakes (or to taste)

Steps:

  • Take the ham out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about an hour.
  • Drain, rinse and pat dry the ham. Set the ham skin-side up on a cutting board.
  • With a sharp paring knife, score the ham crossways at 2-inch intervals, making a diamond pattern. This will make it easier to remove the skin and excess fat later.
  • Preheat oven to 325 F. Meanwhile mix up the ingredients for the glaze in a glass bowl and set it aside.
  • Line a large roasting pan with aluminum foil, and pour 2 cups of water into the pan.
  • Set a roasting rack in the pan and place the ham, skin-side up, on the rack. Insert a probe thermometer into the deepest part of the ham, being careful not to hit the bone. Transfer to the oven and bake for about 3 hours or until the thermometer reads 120 F.
  • Remove the ham from the oven, take out the thermometer, and with a pair of tongs pull the skin and excess fat off the ham. Leave about 1/4 inch of fat all around.
  • Now generously brush the ham with the glaze so that it is thickly covered. Insert the probe thermometer in a different spot and return the ham to the oven. Bake for another hour or until the thermometer reads 140 F.
  • Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for about 30 minutes, then carve and serve. One 15-pound ham will serve 20 people, but even if you have fewer people, the leftovers are wonderful. For a different sort of glaze, you can use maple syrup or honey in Step 8 instead of preserves.

HAM AND FRUIT SALAD

Ham and Fruit Salad image

So refreshing and loaded with fresh fruit flavors. Ready in minutes. A quick and healthy lunch or great addition to your brunch table. Has a very colorful presentation. The recipe is also very interchangeable. You can exchange ham (I use black forest ham) for chicken or turkey and use a mixture of berries like raspberries blue berries and strawberries. If you prefer a different type of cheese use it.

Time 15m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 1/2 cups cooked chicken or 1 1/2 cups cooked turkey
2 medium nectarines or 2 medium peaches, peeled, sliced
6 cups mixed salad greens
1 pint strawberries, hulled, sliced or 1 pint mixed berry, raspberries, blue berries and strawberries
1 cup swiss cheese, shredded
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon poppy seed
1/4 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Mix all salad ingredients in serving bowl; toss well.
  • Whisk together all dressing ingredients in small bowl. Pour dressing over salad; toss to coat.

Tips:

  • To ensure an evenly cooked ham, use a meat thermometer to monitor its internal temperature. Insert it into the thickest part of the ham, ensuring it doesn't touch any bone. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C) for a juicy and tender result.
  • Enhance the ham's flavor by scoring the surface before baking. This simple technique allows the glaze to penetrate deeper, resulting in a delectable and flavorful dish.
  • For a perfectly caramelized glaze, baste the ham regularly during the baking process. This helps create a shiny, golden-brown crust that adds an extra layer of taste and visual appeal.
  • Experiment with different glaze combinations to suit your taste preferences. Try a tangy orange-honey glaze for a citrusy twist or a sweet pineapple-brown sugar glaze for a tropical flair.
  • Add a medley of mixed fruits to the baking pan to create a vibrant and flavorful accompaniment to the ham. Choose fruits that hold their shape well, such as pineapple, apples, and oranges, and toss them with some melted butter, brown sugar, and spices before roasting.

Conclusion:

Incorporating mixed fruits into your ham recipe adds a burst of sweetness, color, and complexity that elevates the dish to a whole new level. With its tender and juicy meat, caramelized glaze, and medley of roasted fruits, this recipe is sure to be a hit at your next special occasion or family gathering. So gather your ingredients, preheat your oven, and embark on a culinary journey that will leave your taste buds tantalized and your guests asking for seconds!
