Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of ham: For this recipe, a bone-in ham is ideal, as it will provide more flavor and moisture to the dish.
  • Score the ham: Scoring the ham helps the garlic and rosemary to penetrate the meat, resulting in a more flavorful dish.
  • Use fresh garlic and rosemary: Fresh herbs and spices provide the best flavor, so use fresh garlic and rosemary whenever possible.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan: When searing the ham, do not overcrowd the pan, as this will prevent it from getting a nice sear.
  • Use a meat thermometer: To ensure that the ham is cooked to perfection, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. The ham is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  • Let the ham rest before carving: Once the ham is cooked, let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful ham.

Conclusion:

This ham with garlic and rosemary is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. The combination of garlic and rosemary gives the ham a wonderful flavor, and the glaze adds a touch of sweetness and shine. Whether you are serving it for a holiday dinner or a casual weeknight meal, this ham is sure to be a hit.
