Top with 2 thin slices mozzarella (from a 5-ounce ball), and top with a layer of fresh basil leaves. Drizzle with a little more oil. Top with another slice of bread, then with 2 thin slices of tomato, then a layer of prosciutto or salami. Drizzle with some more olive oil and top with a third slice of bread. Using a serrated knife, remove the crusts and slice into rectangles, about 1 1/2 inches wide by 3 inches long. Repeat with another 9 slices of bread.
Tips:
- Use ripe, juicy tomatoes: This will ensure that your treats are packed with flavor.
- Slice the tomatoes thinly: This will help them cook evenly.
- Use fresh mozzarella cheese: Fresh mozzarella is soft and creamy, and it will melt perfectly in your treats.
- Grate the Parmesan cheese: Grated Parmesan cheese will distribute evenly throughout your treats and add a nutty flavor.
- Use a non-stick skillet: This will prevent your treats from sticking and burning.
- Cook the treats over medium heat: This will help them cook evenly without burning.
- Serve the treats immediately: They are best enjoyed hot and fresh out of the pan.
