Tips:

  • Choose thick-cut ham steaks for best results. Thinner steaks will dry out more easily during cooking.
  • Sear the ham steaks over medium-high heat to create a flavorful crust. This will help to lock in the juices and prevent the steaks from becoming dry.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook the ham steaks for an additional 5-7 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit. This will ensure that the steaks are cooked through without overcooking.
  • Make sure to use a sharp knife to slice the apples for the topping. This will help to prevent the apples from browning too quickly.
  • The topping can be made ahead of time and refrigerated until ready to use. This will save you time when you're ready to cook the ham steaks.

Conclusion:

Ham steaks with apple topping is a classic dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own preferences. Serve the ham steaks with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a simple green salad.
