Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better the dish will taste. This is especially true for the mushrooms and herbs.
  • Sauté the mushrooms properly: Don't overcrowd the pan when sautéing the mushrooms. This will prevent them from cooking evenly and releasing their liquid. Cook them over medium-high heat until they are browned and tender.
  • Use a good quality ham: The ham is a key ingredient in this dish, so it's important to use a good quality one. Look for a ham that is smoked and cooked, and that has a good flavor.
  • Don't overcook the pasta: Pasta should be cooked al dente, which means it should be cooked through but still have a slight bite to it. Overcooked pasta will be mushy and unpleasant.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs: Fresh herbs, such as parsley or basil, add a nice finishing touch to this dish. They also add a pop of color and flavor.
