HAM & CHEESE BREAKFAST BAKE

Ham & Cheese Breakfast Bake image

I like finding a breakfast food that can be taken in the car and eaten without a mess. I also had some leftover cans of crescent rolls from our family Thanksgiving dinner. So this morning I combined those two elements, and came up with this dish.

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 can(s) crescent rolls
6-8 oz thin sliced deli ham
1 1/2 c grated cheddar cheese
4 large eggs
2/3 c whole milk (or 1 small can evaporated milk)
1/2 tsp each salt and pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Unroll crescent rolls and press them in the bottom and up the sides of a 9 x 9-inch baking pan, pressing the seams together and making them cover the pan evenly.
  • 2. Lay out slices of deli ham on top of crust, using enough ham to make a double layer. Sprinkle with the grated cheese. Beat together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined. Pour carefully over cheese.
  • 3. Bake for 30 minutes until crust edges are browned and it puffs up, checking to be sure middle is done by testing with a thin-blade knife. Allow to set at least 10 minutes before slicing to serve.

Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before you start cooking, gather and measure all of your ingredients. Cut and prep vegetables, and preheat your oven to save time.
  • Choose Fresh Ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will greatly impact the taste of your dish. Opt for fresh, high-quality ingredients whenever possible.
  • Don't Overcook the Eggs: Eggs are a delicate ingredient that can easily be overcooked. Be careful not to overcook them, as this will make them tough and rubbery.
  • Season to Taste: Always taste your dish before serving and adjust the seasoning accordingly. A little salt and pepper can go a long way in enhancing the flavors.
  • Serve Immediately: Breakfast bakes are best served immediately after they are made. This will ensure that the dish is hot, fresh, and at its best.

Conclusion:

Ham and cheese breakfast bakes are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own preferences. Whether you like your eggs scrambled, fried, or poached, and whether you prefer cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend of cheeses, there is a ham and cheese breakfast bake recipe out there for everyone.
