Time 11m

Yield 8-10 inch fritata, 1-4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup diced ham
2 slices swiss cheese
3 eggs
2 tablespoons sour cream
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • beat eggs, sour cream and seasonings together until well blended.
  • Add diced ham to eggs.
  • Melt butter in 10 inch fry pan.
  • Add 1/2 egg mixture to fry pan and cook on medium heat for about 1 minute to set bottom.
  • Layer swiss cheese on cooked eggs, then add the rest of the egg mixture.
  • Continue cooking over medium heat until bottom begins to brown slightly.
  • Remove pan from stove and place on top rack of oven broiler.
  • Broil until completely set and top is nicely browned.
  • (watch carefully, burns easily).

Tips:

  • Opt for high-quality fresh ingredients: Use the freshest vegetables, herbs, cheese, and meat you can find. This will ensure the best flavor and texture in your frittata.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: Make sure you have a large enough pan so that the frittata has room to spread out and cook evenly. If the pan is too small, the frittata will be thick and dense instead of light and fluffy.
  • Cook the frittata over medium-low heat: This will help it cook evenly throughout without burning the bottom. Be patient and don't rush the process.
  • Don't flip the frittata: Unlike other egg dishes, frittatas are not flipped during cooking. This is because they are cooked through in the oven, so flipping them would only disturb the top layer.
  • Let the frittata cool slightly before slicing: This will help it hold its shape and make it easier to slice.

Conclusion:

The ham and Swiss frittata is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. With its simple ingredients and easy-to-follow instructions, it's a great option for busy cooks or those who are new to cooking.
