Time 1h35m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1/3 c milk
1 c persimmon pulp
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c sugar
1 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp allspice, ground
1/2 c raisins
1/2 c nuts, chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Combine milk, pulp, vanilla and sugar.
  • 2. Sift together dry ingredients and stir into wet mixture. Fold in nuts and raisins.
  • 3. Pour into a greased 9x5" loaf pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1-1 1/2 hours.

Tips:

  • Choose the right persimmons: Use ripe, soft hachiya persimmons for the best flavor and texture in your bread pudding.
  • Prepare the persimmons properly: Peel and remove the seeds from the persimmons before adding them to the bread pudding batter. This will help to ensure a smooth and creamy texture.
  • Use a good quality bread: The type of bread you use will also affect the flavor and texture of your bread pudding. Use a sturdy bread that will hold up well in the custard, such as a French baguette or a challah bread.
  • Custard: Make sure the custard is rich and creamy. Use a good quality milk and cream, and don't skimp on the eggs.
  • Don't overcook the bread pudding: Bread pudding is best when it is slightly set but still has a bit of a wobble in the center. Overcooking will make it dry and dense.

Conclusion:

Hachiya persimmon bread pudding is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its rich and creamy custard, tender bread, and sweet and flavorful persimmons, this bread pudding is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you have some ripe hachiya persimmons on hand, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
