4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 tablespoon minced onion
1 teaspoon minced garlic

salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 cups cooked rice
½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Time 55m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup white rice
1 cup water
1 pound ground beef
3 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed tomato soup
3 tablespoons chili powder
8 slices processed cheese food (such as Velveeta®)

Steps:

  • Bring the rice and water to a boil in a saucepan. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover, and simmer until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed, 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Preheat an oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a 1-quart baking dish.
  • While the rice is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and stir in the ground beef. Cook and stir until the beef is crumbly, evenly browned, and no longer pink. Drain and discard any excess grease. Stir in the condensed tomato soup and chili powder; cook until heated through.
  • Spread 1/3 of the rice into the bottom of the prepared baking dish and cover with 1/3 of the ground beef mixture. Place 2 slices of processed cheese over the meat, then cover with 2 more layers of rice and meat. Arrange the remaining 6 slices of cheese over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the casserole has heated through and the cheese is bubbly and browned, about 20 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ground beef for the best flavor. Look for ground beef that is at least 80% lean.
  • Season the ground beef well with salt, pepper, and garlic powder before cooking. This will help to develop its flavor.
  • Cook the ground beef over medium heat until it is browned all the way through. Do not overcook the ground beef, or it will become tough.
  • Use a long-grain rice for this recipe. Long-grain rice will cook up fluffy and separate, while short-grain rice will be more sticky.
  • Rinse the rice well before cooking. This will help to remove any excess starch and prevent the rice from sticking together.
  • Use a flavorful broth to cook the rice. This will add extra flavor to the dish.
  • Stir in the cheese at the end of cooking. This will help to melt the cheese and evenly distribute it throughout the dish.
  • Serve the ground beef and rice with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings include salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and shredded lettuce.

Conclusion:

Ground beef and rice with cheese is a quick and easy meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. It is also a versatile dish that can be customized to your liking. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy.
