STROMBOLI

The stromboli that I make uses pre-made pizza dough. But bread dough can be used as well. Kids love this pizza creation and adults love the grown-up pizza creation. Also, I always have left-over mixture, which I use the following day with Spaghetti.

GROUND BEEF AND PEPPERONI STROMBOLI

Categories     Beef

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 loaves frozen bread dough
2 eggs
1/3 c olive oil
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp ground mustard
1/2 tsp oregano
1 lb ground beef
1 pkg sliced pepperoni
2 c mozzarella
1 c mild cheddar
1 small onion
(op) olives

Steps:

  • Place each loaf of bread dough in a greased large bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°. Punch dough down. Roll each loaf into a 15x12-in. rectangle. In a small bowl, combine eggs, oil and seasonings. Brush over dough to within 1/2 in. of edges; set remaining egg mixture aside. Layer beef, pepperoni, cheeses and onion on dough to within 1/2 in. of edges. Roll up, jelly-roll style, beginning with a long side. Seal the edges well. Place seam side down on greased baking sheets. Brush with remaining egg mixture. Bake 30-35 minutes or until lightly browned. Let stand 5-10 minutes before cutting.

Tips:

  • For a crispy crust: Use a combination of butter and olive oil to grease the baking dish. This will help the stromboli brown evenly and give it a crispy texture.
  • Don't overfill the stromboli: The filling should be spread evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Overfilling the stromboli will make it difficult to seal and may cause the filling to leak out.
  • Bake the stromboli until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly: This usually takes about 20-25 minutes. If the crust is browning too quickly, cover the stromboli with foil to prevent it from burning.
  • Let the stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing: This will help the filling set and prevent it from spilling out.

Conclusion:

This Ground Beef and Pepperoni Stromboli is the perfect meal for a busy weeknight. It's easy to make, delicious, and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its crispy crust, flavorful filling, and gooey cheese, this stromboli is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
