PERFECTLY GRILLED MARINATED STEAK

Perfectly Grilled Marinated Steak image

With some experimenting. I made this marinade for grilling steak. I have used this marinade on Sirloin steak and London Broil. I absolutely love the combination of flavors. The marinade makes the steak very flavorful. Low carb too! This steak is a big hit in my home. From my table to yours. Enjoy!

Provided by Nor Mac

Categories     Steaks and Chops

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 15

2-3 lb sirloin steak, steak tips, or london broil
1/4 c balsamic vinegar
1/2 c tamari soy sauce or low sodium soy sauce
1/4 c olive oil
1 Tbsp basil
1 Tbsp parsley flakes
1/2 Tbsp thyme, dried
1 tsp onion powder
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp fresh cracked black pepper
salt and pepper to taste
OPTIONAL ONIONS
1 large sweet onion
2 Tbsp olive oil or a liberal amount of butter flavored or any spray oil
1/4 c water

Steps:

  • 1. For London broil. Poke steak on both sides liberally with a fork piercing the meat before marinating.
  • 2. For Sirloin steak and steak tips. You may pierce meat slightly with fork. It is not nessasary.
  • 3. Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Place steak in a plastic bag. Pour marinade in to bag with steak. Coat steak on all sides with marinade. After 1 1/2- 2 hours. Flip steak over and distribute marinade all over steak again. Marinade for 3-4 hours total time in refrigerator.
  • 4. Slice large onion in half after peeling. Slice in to half inch slices. Heat nonstick pan spray liberally with butter flavor spray, or you may use olive oil. I made this recipe carb free and lower fat for myself. Place onions in pan. Fry tossing constantly with a spatula over high heat . Turn down a to medium high. Continue stirring and tossing the onions until nicely golden brown. Stir in a quarter cup of water. Continue to cook until water evaporates remove from pan into a bowl. Cover bowl and set-aside.
  • 5. Heat grill to high heat. Spray with oil spray. Heat grill until piping hot. Depending on the temperature outside. It should take about 15 to 20 minutes. Place steak on hot grill. Sear steak on both sides. Reduce heat to medium high. Continue to cook until desired doneness.top with onions, and serve
  • 6. Cooking tip for desired doneness. This is based on a 1 inch thick steak. Cook on both sides for approximately one minute for a medium rare steak. The grill must be piping hot in order to do this. Temperature should be over 500°. Grills may vary. Please adjust timing if your grill does not reach that temperature. For instance. My grill reaches 600° A good way to check for doneness. Before placing steak on grill get a feel of steak. A raw steak feels kind of squishy. The longer it cooks the the less squishy it will feel. A well-done steak will feel very dense and firm. A medium will feel in between dense and squishy For the most tender meat I suggest cooking your steak medium rare to medium. ( london btoil I always cook medium rare. Anything over that will make the steak tougher. You may also use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. Rare 120 degree's very red in center Medium rare 130 degree's red but not shiny Medium 135 degree's light pink Medium well 140 degree's starting to gray in center Well done 150 degree's toally gray in center

BEEF STEAK MARINADE

Beef Steak Marinade image

Recipe video above. This is a marinade to transform good value steaks by making them juicier, more tender and adding a hint of flavour while not overpowering the flavour of the beef. With this marinade, you won't need a sauce for the beef, though I can never resist some garlic butter!

Provided by Nagi | RecipeTin Eats

Categories     Mains

Time 12h10m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 steaks (, economical (Note 1))
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp minced garlic ((1 large garlic clove))
1/2 tsp onion powder ((or sub with garlic powder))
1 tbsp soy sauce ((Note 2))
1 tbsp oil ((I use olive oil, but any oil is fine))
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
Black pepper

Steps:

  • Mix together mustard, garlic and onion powder. Then mix in remaining ingredients.
  • Place beef in a ziplock bag with Marinade and marinade overnight (12 - 24 hours).
  • Remove from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to bring to room temperature - key for even cooking of steaks. Shake off excess marinade.
  • Brush BBQ Grills with oil, then heat on high heat until is really hot - you should see wisps of smoke. Or heat a heavy based skillet on high until very hot, then add oil - it will heat almost instantly.
  • Add steaks. For 2cm / 3/4" thick steaks, cook the first side for 2 minutes, then turn and cook the other side for 2 minutes (medium rare 52°C/125°F, chart below for other doneness temps). (Note 3)
  • Remove from skillet onto a WARM plate, cover loosely with foil and set aside for 5 minutes.
  • Serve! I couldn't resist garlic butter - see recipe in notes.

PERFECT SOY-GRILLED STEAK

Perfect Soy-Grilled Steak image

You may think you don't have the time to marinate meat before grilling it, but it's time-consuming only if you think a marinade has to tenderize. As far as I'm concerned, there are only two goals in marinating: to add flavor and to promote browning and crispness. Neither of these requires long soaking, although dunking the meat while the grill heats contributes to a slightly greater penetration of flavor. This marinade of soy sauce, ginger, garlic, honey and lime is ideal for steak, but it works beautifully with any tender meats like burgers, boneless chicken, tuna and swordfish, all of which can be turned in the sauce before putting them on the grill. Longer-cooking meats, like bone-in chicken, should be cooked within 10 minutes of doneness before basting with the sauce.

Time 30m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/4 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon peeled and minced ginger
1/2 teaspoon peeled and minced garlic
1 tablespoon honey, molasses or hoisin sauce
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Juice of 1/2 lime
1 16- to 24-ounce boneless steak (rib-eye, skirt or strip), or one 24- to 32-ounce bone-in steak (rib-eye or T-bone)

Steps:

  • Start a charcoal or wood fire or heat a gas grill; the fire should be hot and the rack no more than 4 inches from the heat source. Mix together the first 6 ingredients; taste and add more of anything you like. Turn the steak in the sauce once or twice, then let sit in the sauce until the grill is hot.
  • Turn the steak one more time, then place on the grill; spoon any remaining sauce over it. For rare meat, grill about 3 minutes a side for steaks less than an inch thick. For larger or more done steak, increase the time slightly.
