MOM'S SCALLOPED POTATOES
This is the way my mother always made her scalloped potatoes. The measurements are taken from other recipes because she always just winged it, but the method is the same. The key is to heat the milk first!

Tips:
- Choose the right potatoes: Russet potatoes are the best choice for scalloped potatoes because they hold their shape well and have a mild flavor. Yukon Gold potatoes can also be used, but they are more likely to fall apart during cooking.
- Slice the potatoes thinly: The thinner the potato slices, the more evenly they will cook. Aim for slices that are about 1/8-inch thick.
- Use a flavorful cheese: A good melting cheese, such as Gruyère, cheddar, or Parmesan, will add a lot of flavor to the scalloped potatoes. You can also use a combination of cheeses.
- Don't overcook the potatoes: Scalloped potatoes are best when they are cooked through but still slightly firm. Overcooking will make them mushy.
- Add some herbs and spices: A few simple herbs and spices, such as thyme, rosemary, garlic, and onion, can add a lot of flavor to scalloped potatoes.
Conclusion:
Grilled scalloped potato packets are a delicious and easy side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for potlucks, picnics, and backyard barbecues. With a little planning and preparation, you can make grilled scalloped potato packets that are sure to impress your friends and family.
