GRILLED SALAMI AND CHEESE SANDWICHES
When my brother and I would go to visit my dad he would often make us these sandwiches for dinner. They are so simple, but the taste just brings me back to the days with daddy! You can really mix and match any meats and cheeses, but to me, there is no comparison to good ol' salami and american cheese!!

Steps:
- Heat 12 inch skillet over med. heat. spread one side of each bread slice with gourmet mayonnaise and other side with butter.
- Place 2 bread slices, butter side down, in skillet. Top each with 2 salami slices, 2 tomato slices, 1 cheese slice and 1 bread slice, butter side up.
- Cook 2 to 3 minutes or until bottoms of sandwiches are golden brown. Turn sandwiches; cook 1 to 2 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown and cheese is melted. Repeat with remaining two sandwiches.
- * I prefer the Italian salami and have it sliced very thin -- so I use many more than just 8 slices.
- Note: If you have a George Foreman Grill or Panini Grill -- use that instead of a skillet. In addition to cutting down on the cooking time, you can also eliminate the butter/margarine.
Tips:
- Choosing the Right Bread: Opt for a sturdy bread that can hold up to the grilled salami and melted cheese, such as a French baguette, sourdough, or ciabatta.
- Slicing the Salami: Cut the salami into thin slices to ensure even cooking and a crispy texture.
- Building the Sandwich: Layer the salami, cheese, and any additional toppings on one slice of bread, then top with the other slice.
- Grilling the Sandwich: Heat a grill or panini press over medium heat. Brush the outsides of the sandwich with butter or olive oil to prevent sticking. Grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey.
- Serving Suggestions: Serve the grilled salami sandwich immediately, cut in half or quarters. Accompany with your favorite sides, such as potato chips, coleslaw, or a simple green salad.
Conclusion:
Grilled salami sandwiches are a quick and easy meal that can be enjoyed for lunch, dinner, or a snack. With just a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of cooking time, you can have a hot and satisfying sandwich that the whole family will love. So next time you're looking for a simple and delicious meal, give grilled salami sandwiches a try!
