Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 slices thick slices of artisan, crusty bread
85 grams of shaved black forest deli ham
4 slices of sharp / old brick style cheddar, broken into smaller pieces
1 tbsp butter

Steps:

  • Begin by getting your fry pan ready on the counter. Butter one side of the bread with 1/2 tbsp of butter. Place the bread butter side down in the fry pan.
  • Take half of the broken up peices of cheese and place them on top of the bread, trying to cover all the available places on the bread.
  • Take the ham and twist each peice loosely so it folds in a small mound. Continue to do this with each piece, stacking them next to each other to cover the top of the cheese.
  • Take the remaining cheese pieces and top the ham with the cheese.
  • Butter the top piece of bread with another 1/2 tbsp of butter and place it, butter side out, on top of the cheese.
  • Place the fry pan onto the stove over medium heat/low heat.Take your time grilling the bread as if you brown the bread too quickly, the cheese will not be melted. Keep an eye on the bottom piece and when it's nicely toasted, carefully flip the sandwich to the other side.
  • Placing a lid on the fry pan helps with melting the cheese slightly faster.
  • When the other side is nicely grilled to golden brown, remove the sandwich onto a plate. Let it rest for a few minutes as the cheese will be LAVA hot!! Cut in half after the wait time is done, and enjoy!

Ham and Brie Pull-Apart Sandwiches image

This is the ultimate hot ham and cheese sandwich. Dijon mustard and butter are spread between slices of baguette, stuffed with French ham and brie cheese, then baked for a gooey, decadent pull-apart sandwich in just 40 minutes.

Categories     appetizer

Time 40m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

6 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1 18-inch baguette
6 ounces deli-sliced ham
4 ounces brie cheese, cut into 6 slices
6 cornichons, sliced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425˚ F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine the butter and mustard in a bowl and mash with a spoon; season with salt and pepper.
  • Trim the ends off the baguette. Cut the bread on an angle into 12 slices, leaving the bottom of the loaf intact. (You can position chopsticks along the long sides of the bread to keep from cutting all the way through the loaf.) Transfer to the baking sheet.
  • Brush all but 2 tablespoons of the mustard butter between the bread slices. Fold each piece of ham in half or into quarters, then stuff into every other slice in the bread, starting with the first slice. Stuff a slice of brie into each piece of ham. Brush or rub the top and sides of the bread with the remaining mustard butter.
  • Bake until the edges of the ham are crisp and the cheese has melted, about 18 minutes. Pull apart or slice into individual sandwiches. Sprinkle with the cornichons and chives.

Time 40m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 loaf Italian bread (10 to 12 inches)
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 tablespoon country-style dijon mustard
6 slices swiss cheese
3/4 lb ham slices, thin

Steps:

  • Heat gas or charcoal grill. Spray 25x18-inch sheet of heavy-duty foil with cooking spray. Without cutting all the way through, cut loaf of bread into 12 (3/4-inch) slices, cutting to within 1/4 inch of bottom.
  • Stir together butter and mustard. Spread every other slice of bread with slightly less than 2 teaspoons mustard mixture, creating 6 sandwiches. Fold each slice of cheese in half diagonally; tuck each into sandwich. Divide ham evenly among sandwiches, tucking in to fit. Place loaf on center of foil. Seal edges, making tight 1/2-inch fold; fold again, allowing space for heat circulation and expansion.
  • Place foil-wrapped loaf on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 20 to 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and loaf is hot, turning loaf frequently. To serve, open packet carefully to allow steam to escape. Remove foil from loaf; pull apart sandwiches.
  • High Altitude (3500-6500 ft): Heat gas or charcoal grill for indirect cooking. For two-burner gas grill, heat one burner to medium; place packet on unheated side. For one-burner gas grill, cook over very low heat. For charcoal grill, move medium coals to edge; place packet in center of grill. Cover grill; cook 20 to 30 minutes, rotating and turning packet over every 5 minutes.

All-purpose flour, for dusting

Ham & Cheese Pull-Apart Bread Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: unsalted butter, French's Dijon Mustard, italian bread loaf, monterey jack cheese, deli ham, gruyère cheese, fresh parsley

Provided by Tayo Ola

Categories     Snacks

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

½ cup unsalted butter, softened
¼ cup French's Dijon Mustard
1 italian bread loaf
16 oz monterey jack cheese
12 oz deli ham
5 oz gruyère cheese, shredded
fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190 C).
  • In a small bowl, combine French's Dijon Mustard and softened butter.
  • Using a serrated knife, cut ¾-inch (2 cm) slices in the bread without cutting all the way through so the bottom of the loaf stays intact (similar to a Hasselback potato).
  • Using about half the mixture, brush dijon butter between each bread slice. Reserve the rest of the butter for later.
  • Stack a slice of ham on top of a slice of cheese, fold stack in half, and wedge it in between each bread slice so the cheese is against the bread. Repeat with remaining cheese and ham slices.
  • Brush remaining dijon butter over loaf and top with shredded Gruyère.
  • Wrap loaf in aluminum foil. Bake for 15 minutes, then unwrap the foil and bake for another 5 minutes. Remove from oven, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve immediately.
  • Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use a good quality bread that is sturdy enough to hold all the ingredients. A sourdough or French bread works well.
  • Spread a thin layer of butter on the bread slices before assembling the sandwich. This will help to keep the bread from getting soggy.
  • Use a variety of cheeses in the sandwich. This will create a more complex and flavorful dish.
  • Don't be afraid to add other ingredients to the sandwich, such as cooked bacon, sliced tomatoes, or avocado.
  • If you're making the sandwich ahead of time, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate it. You can then bake it when you're ready to serve.

Conclusion:

The Grilled Ham and Cheese Pull Apart Sandwich Loaf is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a party or potluck. It's also a great way to use up leftover ham and cheese.
