1 can pineapple slices
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup minced onion
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tablespoon brown sugar
6 pork chops (each 1-inch thick)

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Drain the pineapple slices, reserving 1/4 cup of the juice in a large measuring cup. Add soy sauce , 1/3 cup vegetable oil, onion, garlic, and brown sugar and stir to combine.
  • Place pork chops and pineapple slices in a large resealable bag. Pour marinade mixture over the top. Seal bag and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  • Preheat a grill to medium-high (400 F to 425 F). Remove the pork and the pineapple from the marinade and let come to room temperature. Meanwhile, transfer the marinade to a small saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and continue to boil, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside.
  • Oil the grill grates. Grill the pork chops, turning and basting halfway through cooking, about 12 minutes total, or until the internal temperature reaches 145 F. Reserve any remaining marinade for the table.
  • During the last few minutes of cooking, place the pineapple slices on the grill and cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until browned on the surface.
  • Top the pork chops with the pineapple slices and remove from the grill. Tent lightly with foil, and let rest 5 minutes before serving with the reserved marinade.

Tips:

  • Choose the right pork chops: Look for bone-in pork chops that are at least 1 inch thick. This will ensure that the chops stay juicy and flavorful during grilling.
  • Make sure the marinade is flavorful: The marinade is what gives the pork chops their delicious flavor. Be sure to use a marinade that contains a good balance of sweet, sour, and salty ingredients.
  • Let the pork chops marinate for at least 30 minutes: The longer the pork chops marinate, the more flavorful they will be. If you are short on time, you can marinate the pork chops for as little as 15 minutes, but the longer you marinate them, the better.
  • Grill the pork chops over medium-high heat: This will help to sear the outside of the pork chops and keep them juicy on the inside.
  • Cook the pork chops until they reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit: This is the safe internal temperature for pork chops. You can use a meat thermometer to check the temperature of the pork chops.
  • Let the pork chops rest for a few minutes before serving: This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the pork chops, making them even more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Grilled bone-in pork chops with Hawaiian marinade is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a summer cookout. The marinade gives the pork chops a sweet, sour, and salty flavor that is sure to please everyone. Serve the pork chops with your favorite sides, such as rice, roasted vegetables, or a salad.
