GRILLED BANANAS
Steps:
- Build a charcoal fire or preheat a gas grill.
- Slice the bananas, in their skins, in half crosswise and then lengthwise so each banana yields 4 pieces. Set aside on a clean platter. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Drizzle the honey on the cut sides of the bananas and sprinkle them with the cinnamon sugar. Let the bananas sit for 5 minutes.
- Place the bananas, cut side down, on the center of grill. Grill for 2 minutes or until grill marks appear. Using a pair of tongs, turn them over and cook for 5 more minutes, or until the skin pulls away from the bananas. Remove the bananas from the grill and serve them immediately, on top of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with bourbon or liqueur, if desired.
Tips:
- Choose ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful they will be.
- Use a grill or grill pan with a medium-high heat: This will help to caramelize the bananas and give them a slightly smoky flavor.
- Brush the bananas with melted butter or oil: This will help to prevent them from sticking to the grill.
- Cook the bananas for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are slightly charred and caramelized: Be careful not to overcook them, or they will become mushy.
- Serve the bananas immediately with your favorite toppings: Some popular options include ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and caramel.
Conclusion:
Grilled bananas are a delicious and easy dessert that can be enjoyed all year round. They are perfect for cookouts, parties, or a simple weeknight treat. With just a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of your time, you can create a dessert that is sure to please everyone.
