1 pinch cayenne pepper, or more to taste
2 cups water
2 cups chicken broth
8 ounces fresh green beans, trimmed
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon whole milk, or more as needed
½ cup plain bread crumbs
½ cup crushed French-fried onions
¾ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
½ cup water
1 egg
½ cup milk
2 cups seasoned bread crumbs
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • Heat the oil in a deep fryer or electric skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

¼ cup cucumbers, peeled, seeded, minced
1 tablespoon milk
1 ½ teaspoons prepared horseradish

1 teaspoon wasabi powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
Pinch cayenne pepper
For the beans
1 egg beaten
1 cup of milk
4 cups of vegetable broth or chicken broth
6 to 8 ounces of fresh green beans
1 cup of flour
1 cup plain breadcrumbs or seasoned dry bread crumbs
¾ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Oil for frying (I use canola)

Steps:

  • To prepare the dip: Combine dip ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth. Place in a bowl: cover and chill till ready to use. Dip will thicken as it chills. To prepare the beans: Place beans in broth. Bring to a boil and cook 15 minutes, then drain and place in cold water to stop cooking process. Mix beaten egg with milk in a shallow bowl. Measure 1 cup of flour into another shallow bowl. Combine bread crumbs, ¾ teaspoon salt, black pepper, onion powder and garlic powder into a third bowl. Take a handful of beans out of the water and shake off excess liquid. Coat the beans with the flour, shaking to remove excess flour. Dip the beans, one at a time, into egg/milk mixture, then dip in breadcrumb mixture. Place the beans on a plate until all are coated. Heat the oil to 350 degrees F. Use enough to cover the beans. Fry until golden brown, about 1 ½ minutes. Drain on paper towels.

2 c chicken broth, low salt
1/2 lb green beans, trimmed
1 large egg
1/2 c milk
1 c instant flour
1 c breadcrumbs
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1 pinch cayenne pepper
kosher salt and black pepper
peanut or vegetable oil, for frying
FOR THE DIP:
1/2 c ranch dressing
1/2 c cucumber, peeled, chopped & seeded
1 Tbsp horseradish, drained
1 Tbsp milk
1 tsp distilled white vinegar
2 tsp wasabi powder
1 pinch cayenne pepper
kosher salt

Steps:

  • 1. Make the dip: Puree the dressing, cucumber, horseradish, milk, vinegar, wasabi powder, cayenne pepper, and salt to taste in blender untill smooth. Cover and refridgerate until ready to serve.
  • 2. Prepare the beans: Fill large bowl with ice water. Bring the broth to a boilin a saucepan over high heat. Add the green beans and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Remove the beans with a slotted spoon and transfer to the ice water to stop the cooking. Let cool in water, then drain and pat dry.
  • 3. Whisk the egg and milk in a shallow bowl. Put 1/2 cup flour in another shallow bowl. Combine the breadcrumbs, the remaining 1/2 cup flour, the onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne and salt and pepper to taste in another bowl.
  • 4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Toss the green beans in the flour and shake of excess. One at a time, dip the beans in the egg mixture, dredge in the breadcrumb mixture and lay on the prepared baking sheet. Freeze until the coating is set, about 30 minutes.
  • 5. Heat 3 inches oil in a deep pot over medium heat until a deep-fry thermometer registers 350 degrees. Fry green beans in batches until golden brown, 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer the beans with tongs or a skimmer to a rack or paper towels to drain. Serve with dip.

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 canned chipotle chile, chopped
1 cup flour, divided
1 cup finely ground cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup buttermilk
12 ounces green beans, stem ends trimmed

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat until it reaches 375 degrees F on a deep-fry thermometer (oil temp will drop slightly with addition of green beans -- maintain at 350 degrees F). Reduce heat to low if it gets too hot.
  • Meanwhile, combine mayonnaise and chipotle in a small bowl; set aside. Mix 1/2 cup flour; the cornmeal salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Put remaining 1/2 cup flour in a second bowl and buttermilk in a third bowl.
