Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 lb fresh green beans
1 Tbsp butter
1/2 small onion mince
1/2 can(s) cream of mushroom soup
3/4 c cheddar cheese shredded
1/4 c heavy cream
salt and pepper
25 whole mushroom stems removed and hollowed in middle
1 c french fried onions

Steps:

  • 1. Cut ends off green beans and chop into pieces. Cook in boiling salted water for about 5 minutes. Drain.
  • 2. Add the butter to saucepan and saute onions for 5 minutes.
  • 3. Mix together the green beans, onion, cream of mushroom soup, cheddar cheese, and heavy cream, salt and pepper.
  • 4. Clean the whole mushrooms and hollow out middle removing stems. Arrange on sprayed baking sheet and fill each with green bean mixture. Top with french fried onions.
  • 5. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes

Tips:

  • Choose fresh green beans. Fresh green beans are more flavorful and have a better texture than canned or frozen beans.
  • Cook the green beans until they are tender-crisp. Overcooked green beans will be mushy and lose their flavor.
  • Use a variety of mushrooms. Different types of mushrooms have different flavors and textures, so using a variety will add depth and interest to your dish.
  • Sauté the mushrooms until they are browned. Browning the mushrooms will help them develop their flavor.
  • Use a flavorful cheese. A sharp cheddar cheese or a Gruyère cheese will give your casserole a rich, cheesy flavor.
  • Top the casserole with crispy onions. Crispy onions add a nice crunch and flavor to the casserole.

Conclusion:

Green bean casserole stuffed mushrooms are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or side dish. They are perfect for parties or potlucks, and they can be made ahead of time. With their creamy, cheesy filling and crispy onion topping, these mushrooms are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
