Categories     Cheese

Time 35m

Yield 6 burgers, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 lbs 90% lean ground beef
1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
1/2 cup tomatoes, chopped
2 tablespoons red onions, chopped
2 tablespoons ripe olives, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
6 whole gyro style pita bread (6 inches)
6 lettuce leaves
6 slices tomatoes
1 small seedless cucumber, sliced
1/3 cup cucumber ranch salad dressing

Steps:

  • Shape beef evenly into 12 patties.
  • In a small bowl, combine the feta cheese, chopped tomato, onion, olives, oil and oregano.
  • Top six of the patties with the cheese mixture and then cover with remaining patties and firmly press edges to seal. Sprinkle with salt and pepper for seasoning.
  • Grill patties, covered over medium hot heat for 6-8 minutes on each side or until a meat thermometer reads 160F and juices are clear.
  • Serve each burger on a pita with lettuce, sliced tomato, cucumber and cucumber ranch dressing.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ground beef: The quality of the ground beef you use will greatly impact the flavor of your burgers. Look for ground beef that is made from high-quality cuts of meat and has a good fat content (at least 20%).
  • Season the beef well: Don't be afraid to season the beef generously with salt, pepper, and other spices. This will help to enhance the flavor of the burgers.
  • Mix the beef gently: When mixing the beef, be gentle and avoid overworking it. Overworking the beef will make the burgers tough.
  • Form the burgers into patties: When forming the burgers, make sure to handle them gently and avoid pressing them down too hard. This will help to keep the burgers juicy.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat: Cooking the burgers over medium heat will help to prevent them from drying out. Cook the burgers for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked to your desired doneness.
  • Let the burgers rest before serving: After cooking the burgers, let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help to redistribute the juices and make the burgers more tender.
  • Serve the burgers with your favorite toppings: Greek stuffed burgers can be served with a variety of toppings, such as tzatziki sauce, feta cheese, Kalamata olives, and red onion. Get creative and experiment with different toppings to find your favorite combination.

Conclusion:

Greek stuffed burgers are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a summer cookout or party. With their juicy beef patties, flavorful feta cheese filling, and tangy tzatziki sauce, these burgers are sure to be a hit with everyone. So next time you're looking for a new burger recipe to try, give Greek stuffed burgers a try. You won't be disappointed!
