One 16-ounce jar picante sauce
One 12-ounce can beer
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, smashed
1 jalapeno, halved
1 onion, quartered
Juice of 1 lime
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Few dashes hot sauce
A few grinds freshly ground black pepper
2 slabs whole baby back ribs
1 large bottle BBQ sauce

2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 1/2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
Juice of 1 lime
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  • For the marinade: Combine the picante sauce, beer, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, jalapeno, onion, lime juice, red pepper flakes, hot sauce and black pepper in a large pot and stir to combine. Tips:

  • Choose ripe prickly pears: Look for fruits that are firm and free of blemishes. Avoid any that are too soft or have signs of bruising or decay.
  • Handle prickly pears with care: The spines on prickly pears can be sharp and painful. Use gloves or a pair of tongs to handle them, and be careful not to touch your eyes or mouth.
  • Roast the prickly pears before using: Roasting the prickly pears brings out their natural sweetness and flavor. You can roast them in the oven or on a grill.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the prickly pears: Prickly pears are covered in a thin, papery skin. Use a sharp knife to cut through the skin and expose the flesh of the fruit.
  • Don't overcook the sliders: The burgers should be cooked through but still juicy. Overcooking will dry them out.
  • Serve the sliders immediately: The sliders are best enjoyed fresh off the grill. The buns will get soggy if they sit for too long.

Conclusion:

These Great American Southwest Sliders with Prickly Pear and Grilled Avocado Salsa are a unique and flavorful take on a classic dish.
