GRAPE JELLY SLOW-COOKER MEATBALLS

Grape Jelly Slow-Cooker Meatballs image

Many versions of this dish live on the Internet and for good reason-it's quick, easy and a real crowd pleaser. We find some of them a bit too cloying though, so we scaled down the jelly and added a little acidity and heat in the form of Dijon mustard, cider vinegar and hot sauce to create the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. We use beef meatballs, but you can substitute turkey or veggie ones.

Tips:

  • Choose the right type of meatballs. Frozen or pre-cooked meatballs can be used in this recipe, but fresh meatballs will give you the best results.
  • Use a good quality grape jelly. The better the jelly, the better the meatballs will taste.
  • Don't overcrowd the slow cooker. If you're using a small slow cooker, cook the meatballs in batches.
  • Cook the meatballs on low for at least 4 hours. This will allow the flavors to meld and the meatballs to become tender.
  • Serve the meatballs with your favorite sides. Mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles are all good options.
