Grapes make a great addition to this salad making it both sweet and savory. Don't forget to let this sit for at least 20 minutes before serving to help marry all the flavors and also soften the cabbage slightly. Recipe developed by Food Network Kitchen.

GRAPE SALAD

Grape Salad image

Provided by Trisha Yearwood

Time 30m

Yield 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 pounds seedless green grapes
2 pounds seedless purple grapes
One 8-ounce package cream cheese, room temperature
One 8-ounce container sour cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped

Steps:

  • Wash the grapes and dry thoroughly with paper towels. Put the dry grapes in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, granulated sugar and vanilla. Mix well using an electric mixer. Pour this mixture over the grapes and toss together until all the grapes are coated. Chill in the refrigerator.
  • Just before serving, sprinkle with the brown sugar and pecans.

Tips:

  • Choose firm, crisp grapes for the salad. This will help them hold their shape and prevent them from becoming too soft.
  • Use a variety of colors of grapes to add visual interest to the salad. Red, green, and black grapes all work well together.
  • Slice the cabbage thinly so that it will be easy to eat.
  • Use a light dressing to avoid overpowering the delicate flavors of the grapes and cabbage. A simple vinaigrette made with olive oil, vinegar, and Dijon mustard is a good option.
  • Add some nuts or seeds to the salad for extra crunch and flavor. Walnuts, almonds, and sunflower seeds are all good choices.
  • Serve the salad immediately after making it, or the cabbage will start to wilt.

Conclusion:

Grape and cabbage salad is a refreshing and flavorful salad that is perfect for a summer meal. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its combination of sweet grapes, crunchy cabbage, and tangy dressing, this salad is sure to be a hit at your next gathering.
