  • Roll small amounts of dough to 1/16" - 1/8" thick on a well floured board.
  • Cut into shapes with floured cutters. Use old-fashioned cookie cutters for added interest.
  • Place on greased tins, smoothing out any air bubbles.
  • Bake at 350° for 12 minutes or until light brown--watch carefully.

Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before you start baking, make sure you have all the necessary ingredients and equipment ready. This will help you stay organized and avoid any scrambling.
  • Use High-Quality Ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will directly impact the taste of your cookies. Use the best quality butter, flour, and sugar you can find.
  • Chill the Dough: Chilling the dough before baking helps to prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven. This results in a more defined shape and a chewier texture.
  • Don't Overmix the Dough: Overmixing the dough can develop the gluten in the flour, which can make the cookies tough. Mix the dough just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the Cookies at the Right Temperature: The oven temperature is critical for achieving the perfect cookie. Bake the cookies at the temperature specified in the recipe and avoid opening the oven door during baking.
  • Let the Cookies Cool Completely: Allow the cookies to cool completely before storing or serving. This will help them to set and develop their full flavor.
