GRANDMA'S BEST PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES

Grandma's Best Peanut Butter Cookies image

My family won't let too much time pass, before they beg me to make these delicious peanut butter cookies that melt in your mouth. They don't have the normal fork crossing on the top...but more of a crackled sugar type cookie. Super yummy! Note: I've made this with chunky style peanut butter, too. And it's just as good or better.

Categories     Cookies

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 c brown sugar, packed
1 c sugar
1 c butter flavored crisco
1 c creamy peanut butter (skippy)
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs, large
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp baking soda
2 c flour (1/4 cup more, if needed)

Steps:

  • 1. 1.) Cream together the sugars, Crisco, peanut butter. 2.) Add eggs and vanilla. 3.) Sift the dry ingredients together and add gradually until blended well. 4.) Roll into tablespoon size balls. 5.) Roll cookie dough balls into sugar. 6.) Place on cookie sheets...Do NOT mash with fork in normal "peanut butter cookie" fashion! *** Bake at 350 oven for 11-13 minutes.

Tips:

  • Chill the cookie dough before baking. This will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Use a cookie scoop to portion the dough. This will help ensure that the cookies are all the same size and shape.
  • Bake the cookies until the edges are just beginning to brown. Overbaking will make the cookies dry and crumbly.
  • Let the cookies cool on a wire rack before serving. This will help them to firm up and prevent them from breaking.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Granny's Peanut Butter Cookies are a classic recipe that is sure to please everyone. They are soft, chewy, and packed with peanut butter flavor. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a batch of these delicious cookies ready to enjoy. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give Granny's Peanut Butter Cookies a try. You won't be disappointed!
