Tips:
- Use a whole chicken: This will give your soup a richer flavor than using just chicken breasts or thighs.
- Roast the chicken before adding it to the slow cooker: This will help to brown the chicken and give it a more complex flavor.
- Add plenty of vegetables: Vegetables will add flavor, nutrients, and color to your soup. Some good choices include carrots, celery, onions, potatoes, and peas.
- Use a good quality chicken broth: The broth is the base of your soup, so it's important to use a good quality one. Look for a broth that is low in sodium and has a rich flavor.
- Season your soup to taste: Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste. You can also add a bay leaf or two for extra flavor.
- Cook your soup on low heat for 6-8 hours: This will allow the flavors to meld and the chicken to become fall-off-the-bone tender.
- Serve your soup with a side of crusty bread or crackers: This will help to soak up the broth and make your meal more satisfying.
