GRANDMA ILA NELSON'S LEMON DREAM BARS

Grandma Ila Nelson's Lemon Dream Bars image

This recipe came from Whitefish, Montana and was given to me years ago by a dear friend. It had been passed down from her family for generations. I love the fragrance and flavor of lemons. This is by far the easiest and best tasting lemon bar I have come across. I have made it for bake sales, gifts, and simply to serve, and I always have requests for the recipe.

Tips:

  • Use fresh lemons for the best flavor. Bottled lemon juice can be used in a pinch, but fresh lemons will give your lemon bars a brighter, more pronounced flavor.
  • Make sure your butter is cold before you start baking. This will help to prevent the lemon bars from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the lemon bars tough.
  • Bake the lemon bars until the edges are golden brown and the center is set. Overbaking will make the lemon bars dry and crumbly.
  • Let the lemon bars cool completely before cutting them. This will help to prevent them from falling apart.
  • Dust the lemon bars with powdered sugar before serving. This will add a touch of sweetness and make them look extra special.
  • Lemon bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for up to 2 months.

Conclusion:

Grandma's Lemon Bars are a classic dessert that is easy to make and loved by people of all ages. With their bright lemon flavor and creamy texture, these bars are perfect for any occasion. Whether you're serving them at a party or enjoying them as a special treat, Grandma's Lemon Bars are sure to be a hit.
