GRANDMA'S MEATLOAF

This is my all time favorite dish, that my Grandmother served in her restaurant. She would serve this with real mashed potatoes and creamed corn.

Provided by litldarlin

Categories     Meat

Time 1h15m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 lbs ground chuck
4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup grated onion
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 cups breadcrumbs
1 cup milk
1 cup tomato juice (for topping) or 1 cup ketchup (for topping)
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Mix everything together very well and shape into 2 loaves.
  • You can either pour the tomato juice or ketchup on top before baking, or apply the sauce to the top of the meat loaf 10 minutes before it is done.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes to 1 hour or until done.
  • Makes 2 loaves.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ground meat: A combination of ground beef and ground pork creates a moist and flavorful meatloaf. You can also use all beef or all pork, but the combination is ideal.
  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the meatloaf will be. Use fresh ground meat, eggs, bread crumbs, and vegetables.
  • Don't overmix the meatloaf: Overmixing can make the meatloaf tough. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Shape the meatloaf into a loaf: Use your hands to shape the meatloaf into a loaf shape. Make sure the loaf is evenly shaped so that it cooks evenly.
  • Bake the meatloaf in a preheated oven: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit before baking the meatloaf. This will help the meatloaf cook evenly.
  • Use a meatloaf pan: A meatloaf pan will help the meatloaf hold its shape and prevent it from falling apart.
  • Baste the meatloaf with its own juices: Basting the meatloaf with its own juices will help keep it moist and flavorful.
  • Let the meatloaf rest before slicing: Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This will help the meatloaf hold its shape and make it easier to slice.

Grandma's Everyday Meatloaf is a classic comfort food dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser.
