Number Of Ingredients 13

2 lbs ground beef
1 medium onion, minced
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder

1/4 cup parmesan cheese
salt and pepper
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (I like Italian flavor)

1 pinch thyme
2 tablespoons A.1. Original Sauce (optional)
3 cups barbecue sauce (I use Famous Daves, or Ken Davis)

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients except bbq sauce in a bowl, and form into smaller sized meatballs.
  • Place meatballs on a cookie sheet and bake 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
  • (time will depend on size of meatballs).
  • When cooked through, remove meatballs from cookie sheet and drain off excess grease.
  • Put meatballs and barbecue sauce in a crock pot, and stir to combine.
  • Keep on the"keep warm" setting.

Tips:

  • Use a combination of ground beef and pork: This will give the meatballs a more flavorful and juicy texture.
  • Add some bread crumbs to the meatball mixture: This will help to bind the meatballs together and prevent them from becoming too dry.
  • Use a variety of spices and herbs to flavor the meatballs: This will give them a more complex and interesting taste.
  • Brown the meatballs in a pan before simmering them in the sauce: This will help to develop their flavor and give them a nice crust.
  • Use a good quality tomato sauce: This will make a big difference in the overall flavor of the meatballs.
  • Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for at least 30 minutes: This will allow the flavors to meld together and the meatballs to become tender.
  • Serve the meatballs with your favorite pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes: They also make a great appetizer or party food.
