GRANDMA'S BREAKFAST CASSEROLE

Grandma's Breakfast Casserole image

Every year my Mom would make this breakfast casserole on Christmas morning. It is a tradition that I continued with my kids, and actually is a family favorite to have anytime including for supper! Its great because it can be made the night before so all you have to do is pop it in the oven!

Provided by Diane Schmidt

Categories     Meat Breakfast

Time 1h30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb bulk breakfast sausage
6 slice white bread, cubed
6 eggs
1 c milk
1 c cheddar cheese, shredded
1 can(s) campbell's golden mushroom soup
1/2 can(s) milk

Steps:

  • 1. Butter 9x13 glass pan, and spread bread cubes in the pan (original recipe says to cut the crusts off but my family likes the crust so I don't).
  • 2. Whisk together the eggs and 1 cup milk, pour over bread crusts. And sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  • 3. Brown sausage, and sprinkle on top of cheese.
  • 4. Mix together the soup and 1/2 can of milk, spread on top of the sausage.
  • 5. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour, or until eggs are set.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh ingredients always yield the best results. When possible, use organic or locally-sourced ingredients for the best flavor and quality.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough, dense casserole. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined and no more.
  • Cook the casserole until it is golden brown: The casserole should be cooked until it is golden brown on top and the center is set. This will ensure that the casserole is cooked through and has a delicious flavor.
  • Serve the casserole hot: The casserole is best served hot out of the oven. You can also reheat it in the oven or microwave, but it may not be as good as when it is first baked.
  • Add your own personal touch: Feel free to add your own personal touch to the casserole. You could add different vegetables, cheeses, or meats. You could also change the seasonings to suit your taste.

Conclusion:

Grandma's Breakfast Casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weekend brunch or holiday meal. With its simple ingredients and customizable flavor, this casserole is sure to be a hit with everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a hearty and satisfying breakfast, give Grandma's Breakfast Casserole a try. You won't be disappointed!
