GRAMMY'S ALL-AMERICAN APPLE PIE
I guess Apple Pie has always been one of my most favorite pies! I can still remember my mom, in her little kitchen, peeling the apples and rolling out her delicious, flaky crust. She never had a recipe written down, but I think I got it right...this one tastes just like hers.

Steps:
- 1. Heat oven to 425'F. Stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt; mix with the apples until all are coated.
- 2. Turn into pastry-lined pie pan; dot with butter. Cover with top crust, which has slits cut into it, or use a fork to make holes in the top. (This allows steam to escape.) Seal the edges and using your fingers, make a flute all around. Place onto a baking tray, to catch any spills.
- 3. Cover edge with 2-3" strip of aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning; remove foil last 15 minutes of baking.
- 4. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft. Bake 40-50 minutes or until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust. If the top starts to get too browned, cover it with foil too

GRAMMIE MILLER'S SWEDISH APPLE PIE
My grandmother is a full blooded Swede and she got this recipe from her mother, who came over to America in the late 1800's. She used to make this dessert for my sisters, brother, and I when we were young. We all LOVED it, and I cherish the recipe... This is definately one of my FAVORITE desserts, one of the BEST I have ever had the pleasure of eating! It is so DELICIOUS, everyone loves it that I share it with, and wants the recipe. Try it. Your family will love it as much as mine does!

Steps:
- Grease a 9x13" glass baking dish, or 2 pie plates.
- Fill dish/plates with apples 2/3 full- (10-12 apples depending on the size).
- Sprinkle 2 T.sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon on top of apples.
- (If using pie plates divide this for each one).
- In a small bowl mix remaining ingredients well together, and pour over apples.
- (If using pie plates, place half of this over each plate of apples).
- Bake in preheated 350 oven, for 45 minutes or until brown.
- Serve with whipped cream or French Vanilla ice cream.
- Enjoy!
Tips:
- Use a variety of apples. This will give your pie a more complex flavor and texture. Some good choices include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady.
- Peel and slice the apples thinly. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from becoming mushy.
- Add a little bit of sugar to the apples. This will help them release their juices and prevent them from becoming dry.
- Use a good quality pie crust. You can make your own or buy one from the store. If you're making your own, be sure to use a recipe that results in a flaky crust.
- Don't overcrowd the pie pan. Leave some space between the apples so that they can cook evenly.
- Bake the pie at a high temperature for a short amount of time. This will help to create a golden brown crust and prevent the apples from becoming mushy.
- Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to meld together.
Conclusion:
Apple pie is a classic American dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its combination of sweet, tart, and flaky crust, it's sure to be a hit with everyone. Whether you're making it for a special occasion or just for a weeknight treat, be sure to follow these tips to make the best apple pie possible.
