Time 1h30m

Yield 20

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 ½ (8 ounce) packages thin round wheat crackers (such as Dare Breton®) Original Crackers)
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup chocolate chips
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  • Place the crackers on the foil-lined baking sheet in a single layer, so they overlap like shingles. Melt the butter with brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, bring to a boil, and boil for 3 minutes. Pour the butter mixture evenly over the crackers.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes; remove from oven, and sprinkle crackers with chocolate chips.
  • Let stand about 2 minutes, until the chips are melted, and spread them over the crackers with a spreader or kitchen knife. Sprinkle with nuts, if desired. Allow to cool completely, about 1 hour; break into chunks, and store in airtight sealed container.

EASY 10-MINUTE GRAHAM BRITTLE

Easy 10-Minute Graham Brittle image

I discovered this recipe this Christmas and have gotten rave reviews from everyone who has tried it. A whole baking sheet of this stuff seems like a lot but I guarantee you it will disappear! The brown sugar an butter combine to make an almost caramel-like taste. It's super easy and takes less than 10 minutes to make. Toppings are optional as this also tasted delicious plain. * for a lower fat version, use low-fat graham crackers and light margarine

Time 10m

Yield 12-20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

graham cracker
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 (270 g) package milk chocolate chips
crushed cereal (Oatmeal Crisp is delicious!)
coconut flakes
almonds or peanuts

Steps:

  • First, preheat the oven to 350.
  • Then place graham crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet. Line them up so that they're touching on all sides, like a grid. (Make sure the baking sheet has sides on it.).
  • Bring brown sugar and butter to a boil in a saucepan.
  • Pour the brown sugar and butter mixture evenly over the graham crackers, coating each one evenly.
  • Put the baking sheet in the oven for 5 minutes.
  • Take the baking sheet out of the oven and evenly sprinkle the milk chocolate chips on top of the graham crackers. Let them melt for 30 sec-1 minute. Then spread them around to coat the graham crackers with chocolate.
  • Sprinkle on your desired topping or leave it plain! Crushed cereal not only tastes amazing but also uses up the crumbs in the bottom of the bag :).
  • Chill in the refrigerator until chocolate has hardened. To save time, you can also pop it in the freezer.
  • To serve, use your muscles and a metal flipper or pizza cutter to break it up into pieces.

GRAHAM CRACKERS

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Ingredients     Pasta and Grains

Yield Makes 16

Number Of Ingredients 10

3/4 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface
3/4 cup graham or whole-wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon coarse salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/3 cup packed light-brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1 large egg

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flours, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Using an electric mixer, cream butter, brown sugar, and honey until fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes. Scrape down sides of bowl. With mixer on low speed, add egg, and mix until combined, Add flour mixture, and mix until combined.
  • Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface. Roll between two sheets of parchment to a 1/8-to-1/4-inch thickness. Remove top piece of parchment paper and place dough on a baking sheet. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes.
  • Using a fluted pastry wheel, cut dough into 2 1/4-inch squares and prick dough with a fork to create dotted lines. Transfer to two parchment-lined baking sheets and freeze until firm, about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees with racks in upper and lower thirds. Bake graham crackers until golden brown, rotating sheets from top to bottom and front to back halfway through, 12 to 14 minutes. Transfer crackers to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips:

  • For a crispier brittle, use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature of the sugar syrup. Aim for a temperature of 300°F (150°C).
  • If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can test the syrup by dropping a small amount into a glass of cold water. If the syrup forms a hard, brittle ball, it is ready.
  • Be careful when handling the hot sugar syrup. It can cause severe burns.
  • Work quickly when pouring the syrup onto the graham crackers. The syrup will start to harden quickly.
  • If you want to add nuts or other toppings to the brittle, do so immediately after pouring the syrup onto the graham crackers.
  • Let the brittle cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
  • Store the brittle in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

Graham cracker brittle is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a sweet and crunchy snack that everyone will love. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dessert, give graham cracker brittle a try!
