2/3 lb beef (enough for 2 patties)
4 slice applewood smoked bacon
4 slice smoked Gouda cheese
4 Tbsp Thousand Island dressing
1/2 tsp crushed bacon bits
1/2 tsp diced white onion
1/2 tsp dry mustard powder
dash(es) ketchup (optional)
2 deluxe hamburger buns of choice
1 slice thin cut, white onion

Steps:

  • 1. In a small bowl combine the Thousand Island dressing, bacon bits, mustard powder, diced onion, and, if desired, a dash of ketchup.
  • 2. Mix ingredients until combined.
  • 3. Cook the applewood smoked bacon in a separate frying pan. Drain the bacon and pat dry with paper towels.
  • 4. Let cool to finger touch and rip each strip into half pieces.

I have always eaten my burgers medium rare.....but these are cooked med- well due to my suspicion of grocery store ground beef. Surprisingly they were very juicy!

1 1/3 lbs ground chuck (20/80 mix)
0.5 (1 1/2 ounce) package dry onion soup mix, shake well distribute evenly
2 -3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 -3 teaspoons steak sauce, I use A-1 Bold
1 -2 teaspoon hot sauce
2 garlic cloves, diced small
3 teaspoons olive oil
1/2 cup crouton, then crushed into crumbs
1/2 cup smoked gouda cheese, grated
salt, go light the onion soup has some in it
pepper, to taste
4 -6 slices bacon, fried crispy
3 -4 kaiser rolls, bakery fresh

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl using a fork (except bacon and rolls).
  • Refrigerate 1 hour.
  • Form patties with a large indent in the middle of each one.
  • Light your charcoal or gas grill.
  • Allow meat to sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes prior to grilling.
  • Grill direct heat 4 minutes each side then 4 minutes indirect each side to finish.

1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
3 ounces smoked gouda cheese, shredded
1/4 cup diced red onion
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
oil, for coating grill grate
6 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • Heat the grill as directed.
  • Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp; remove with a slotted spatula and place on paper towels to drain. Crumble.
