2 cups half-and-half cream
2 tablespoons herb and garlic flavored cream cheese spread
2 tablespoons dehydrated onion flakes
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons mustard powder

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Russet potatoes are the best choice for scalloped potatoes because they hold their shape well and have a creamy texture. Yukon Gold and red potatoes can also be used, but they may break down more during cooking.
  • Slice the potatoes evenly: This will ensure that they cook evenly. Use a mandoline or a sharp knife to slice the potatoes into 1/8-inch thick slices.
  • Layer the potatoes and sauce in a baking dish: Start by layering the bottom of the dish with a layer of potato slices. Then, pour some of the sauce over the potatoes. Repeat this process until all of the potatoes and sauce have been used.
  • Bake the scalloped potatoes until they are tender: This will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Check the potatoes by inserting a fork into the center. If the fork goes in easily, the potatoes are done.
  • Top the scalloped potatoes with cheese: This is optional, but it adds a delicious flavor and texture to the dish. Use a sharp cheddar cheese or a combination of cheeses.
  • Let the scalloped potatoes rest before serving: This will allow the potatoes to set and the flavors to meld together. Let the scalloped potatoes rest for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Conclusion:

Scalloped potatoes are a classic comfort food that is perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With a few simple tips, you can make the perfect scalloped potatoes that your family and friends will love.
