Number Of Ingredients 13

2 (8 1/2 ounce) cans pineapple, Crushed
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
2/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
1/4 cup unbleached flour
1 cup small curd cottage cheese, creamed

Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before starting, measure and prepare all ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
  • Blind Bake the Pie Crust: Pre-baking the crust ensures it's crispy and can hold the filling without becoming soggy.
  • Use a Food Processor: To save time and effort, use a food processor to combine the crust ingredients and create a smooth, crumbly dough.
  • Chill the Dough: Chilling the dough before rolling and baking prevents it from shrinking and becoming too tough.
  • Don't Overwork the Dough: Overworking the dough can make it tough and less flaky. Handle it gently and work it just enough to bring it together.
  • Use a Heavy Saucepan: A heavy saucepan helps distribute heat evenly and prevents the filling from scorching.
  • Stir Constantly: Stir the filling continuously while cooking to prevent it from sticking or burning.
  • Use Fresh Fruit: Fresh fruit will provide the best flavor and texture for the pie filling.
  • Don't Overfill the Pie Crust: Filling the crust too much can cause it to overflow during baking.
  • Chill the Pie Before Serving: Chilling the pie before serving allows the filling to set and the flavors to meld.

Conclusion:

The Golden Treasure Pie is a delightful dessert that combines a flaky crust with a sweet and tangy fruit filling. By following these tips, you can create a perfect pie that will impress your family and friends. With its vibrant colors and irresistible flavor, this pie is sure to become a favorite in your recipe collection. Happy baking!
