Quick and easy. A great sweet treat that takes very little time to stir together and just 25-30 minutes in the oven. This recipe came from a Bordon's Eagle Brand Milk flyer printed in 1951. I scanned the flyer and posted the original ad here. These brownies are easy to mix up and bake for the kids after school or for an office...

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 c graham cracker crumbs
1 pkg (6 ounces) chocolate chips
1/2 c chopped pecans
1 can(s) eagle brand sweetened condensed milk

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8 inch square pan very well. Mix together graham cracker crumbs, chocolate, and nut meats. Blend in sweetened condensed milk. Pour into an 8 inch square pan that has been greased and bottom lined with waxed paper. Bake in a moderate oven (350) until top is golden brown, about 40 minutes. Remove from oven. Allow to remain in pan for 10 minutes. Turn out from pan; remove waxed paper. While still warm cut in squares or bars. Cool.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: This will make a big difference in the final product. Use real butter, not margarine; pure vanilla extract, not imitation; and good quality chocolate.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing will make the brownies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the brownies in a preheated oven: This will help them bake evenly.
  • Don't overbake the brownies: Overbaking will make them dry. Bake them just until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Let the brownies cool completely before cutting them: This will help them hold their shape better.

Conclusion:

Gold Rush Brownies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They are rich, fudgy, and have a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. With a few simple tips, you can make sure your Gold Rush Brownies turn out perfect every time.
