CHEX CARAMEL CORN

Chex Caramel Corn image

Make and share this Chex Caramel Corn recipe from Food.com.

Provided by Chris from Kansas

Categories     Dessert

Time 25m

Yield 19 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 1/2 cups Corn Chex or 4 1/2 cups Rice Chex
4 cups popped microwave popcorn
1/2 cup honey roasted peanuts
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
6 tablespoons packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • In large microwavable bowl, mix cereal, popcorn and peanuts. Set aside.
  • In medium microwavable bowl, mix butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and vanilla. Microwave uncovered on High about 2 minutes or until mixture is boiling; stirring after 1 minute. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated.
  • Microwave uncovered on High 4 to 5 minutes, stirring and scraping bowl after every minute.
  • Spread on waxed paper until cooled, stirring occasionally to break up. Store in airtight container.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher your ingredients, the better your caramel corn will taste. If possible, use organic popcorn kernels and high-quality butter.
  • Cook the popcorn properly: Be sure to cook the popcorn according to the package instructions. If you don't cook it long enough, it will be tough. If you cook it too long, it will be burnt.
  • Make sure the caramel is the right consistency: The caramel should be thick and gooey, but not too hard. If it's too hard, it will be difficult to coat the popcorn. If it's too thin, it will be runny and won't stick to the popcorn.
  • Work quickly: Caramel corn is best when it's fresh, so work quickly to coat the popcorn while the caramel is still hot.
  • Be patient: It takes time for the caramel corn to cool and harden. Don't be tempted to eat it before it's fully set, or it will be sticky and messy.

Conclusion:

Gluten-free caramel corn is a delicious and easy-to-make snack that's perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a sweet and crunchy treat that everyone will love. So next time you're looking for a gluten-free snack, give this recipe a try!
