PARTY FRANKS

Party Franks image

This is a very old sweet and sour cocktail recipe; I remember looking forward to it as a kid at my Mom's holiday parties. It will look horrible and smell worse when first in the pan, but just wait. Don't ever tell what's in the sauce until after your guests have tasted it (otherwise they'll never try it). Serve with toothpicks; keep warm with a fondue pot.

COCKTAIL WIENERS

Cocktail Wieners image

A sweet and savory treat for any get-together that will sure be a crowd pleaser. It's cheap and easy to make in a slow cooker with only three ingredients. I make this for any get-together and it is always a hit! I was a little unsure at first about the grape jelly concoction, but I tried it and have never done it any other way. It is so savory with just enough sweet. I always receive or over hear lots of agreement with the taste of the sauce. It always disappears at parties, and the next day I have cravings for these cocktail wienies. Try it for your next potluck, back yard BBQ, or any event!

DREMA'S ORANGE GLAZE COCKTAIL WEINERS

Drema's Orange Glaze Cocktail Weiners image

This little smokies recipe is perfect if you're looking for an easy appetizer. The sauce has everything in it - sweetness from the brown sugar, sour from the orange juice, and tanginess from the mustard. When the brown sugar melts into the orange juice it creates a superb glaze. These aren't your typical BBQ smokies. Thanks to...

Categories     Other Side Dishes

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 pkg Hillshire Farms "Little Smokies" cocktail weiners
2 c brown sugar, light
2 Tbsp flour or cornstarch
2 Tbsp vinegar
4 Tbsp mustard, ground dry
1/2 c frozen orange juice concentrate, defrosted and undiluted

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat and prepare a Crock Pot, chaffing dish or fondue pot to lowest setting.
  • 2. In a large mixing bowl combine brown sugar, flour, and mustard.
  • 3. Make a well and gradually add in vinegar and orange juice. Stir well.
  • 4. Transfer to Crock Pot or heat source.
  • 5. Add cocktail weiners.
  • 6. Stir gently. If becomes too thick add small amounts of diluted OJ with water until you reach the correct consistency of a glaze.
  • 7. Cook on low till only heated thoroughly, about 30 minutes.
  • 8. * Tip: I make the glaze ahead of time and allow to heat on med-high - lower heat to low and add cocktail weiners allowing about 30 minutes to cook before serving time. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality cocktail wieners: Look for plump, evenly-colored wieners with no signs of freezer burn or discoloration.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the wieners: This will help prevent them from tearing or becoming mangled.
  • Cook the wieners until they are evenly browned: This will give them a nice caramelized flavor.
  • Make sure the glaze is thick and sticky: This will help it adhere to the wieners and give them a glossy sheen.
  • Serve the wieners immediately: They are best enjoyed hot and fresh off the grill.

Conclusion:

Glazed cocktail weenies are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any party or gathering. They are sure to be a hit with guests of all ages. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a tasty snack that everyone will love.
