Time 35m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

8 boneless skinless chicken thighs
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
1/4 cup chicken broth
2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
4 cups hot cooked brown rice (or white rice)
1/4 cup sliced scallion, green tops included

Steps:

  • In large skillet over medium high heat, place cooking oil. Add chicken and sauté until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • In a small saucepan, mix together soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, chicken broth, ginger and pepper. Bring mixture to a boil and simmer to reduce sauce, about 5 minutes.
  • Pour sauce over chicken, turning to coat. Place chicken in 325° F oven. Bake about 10 minutes or until internal temperature of chicken registers 165°F Stir in sesame seeds.
  • Place hot rice on serving platter, add chicken and sauce and garnish with scallions.

Tips:

  • Choose the right chicken thighs: Look for bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs for the best flavor and texture.
  • Score the chicken thighs: This helps the marinade to penetrate the chicken more deeply, resulting in more flavorful meat.
  • Marinate the chicken thighs for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight: The longer the chicken thighs marinate, the more flavorful they will be.
  • Use a hot skillet to sear the chicken thighs: This helps to create a crispy skin and juicy interior.
  • Cook the chicken thighs until they are cooked through: The internal temperature of the chicken thighs should reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Serve the chicken thighs with the honey hoisin sauce and sesame seeds: This creates a delicious and flavorful combination.

Conclusion:

This ginger-scented honey hoisin chicken thighs recipe is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The chicken thighs are marinated in a flavorful mixture of ginger, garlic, soy sauce, honey, and hoisin sauce, then seared until crispy and cooked through. The honey hoisin sauce is made with a combination of honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil, and it is the perfect complement to the chicken thighs. Serve the chicken thighs with sesame seeds and enjoy!
