LYCHEE GINGER MARTINI

Lychee Ginger Martini image

A fresh and crisp drink. I first made this to serve at an Asian-themed dinner party, and it was great! The original recipe called for crystallized ginger to be placed in the glass, but I felt weird about that so I left it out. I'm not sure what lychee puree is exactly, so I found canned lychees in syrup at my grocery store and blended them for a few minutes. I had to strain it a little through a colander because the lychees didn't blend perfectly so it was a little gross looking, but in the end I came out with a milky liquid that worked well.

ZENTINI GINGER MARTINI

Categories     Ginger     Cocktail Party     Quick & Easy

Yield 1 cocktail

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 oz vodka
2 oz ginger syrup (recipe below)
3-6 fresh mint leaves
1/2 lime, juiced (about 1 oz)
for Ginger Syrup
4 cups water
small piece of fresh ginger (about 4" long), peeled and sliced into coins
2 cups sugar (or granulated Splenda)

Steps:

  • To a martini shaker, add the vodka, ginger syrup, mint and lime juice. Shake and serve in a chilled martini glass To make ginger syrup: In a small saucepan add the water, ginger and sugar. Stir to combine and bring to a boil. Continue to heat on simmer to make a simple syrup, about 20 minutes. When ready, remove from heat, strain and transfer to a glass container and allow to cool to room temperature.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ginger: Fresh ginger has a more intense flavor than ground ginger, and it will give your martini a more vibrant taste. If you don't have fresh ginger on hand, you can use 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger.
  • Don't over-muddle the ginger: Muddling the ginger releases its flavor, but if you over-muddle it, you can make the drink bitter. Just give the ginger a few gentle turns in the muddler.
  • Use a good quality vodka: The vodka is the base of your martini, so it's important to use a good one. Look for a vodka that is smooth and has a clean flavor.
  • Serve your martini chilled: A chilled martini is more refreshing and flavorful. You can chill your martini by shaking it with ice or by placing it in the freezer for a few minutes before serving.
  • Garnish your martini with a twist of lemon or a sprig of mint: This will add a touch of freshness and flavor to your drink.

Conclusion:

The ginger martini is a refreshing and flavorful cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It's easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. Experiment with different types of ginger, vodkas, and garnishes to find your perfect ginger martini recipe.
