Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 19

1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon canola oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 tablespoons freshly grated ginger
6 cups low sodium chicken broth
1 1/2 tablespoons seasoned rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon reduced sodium soy sauce
6 ounces shiitake mushrooms
3 baby bok choy, coarsely chopped
2 green onions, thinly sliced
8 ounces ground chicken
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon reduced sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
36 2-inch won ton wrappers

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine chicken, garlic, green onions, oyster sauce, soy sauce, ginger, sesame oil and white pepper.* To assemble the wontons, place wrappers on a work surface. Spoon 1 tablespoon of the chicken mixture into the center of each wrapper. Using your finger, rub the edges of the wrappers with water. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape, pinching the edges to seal; set aside.* Heat sesame oil and canola oil in a large stockpot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Whisk in chicken broth, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce and mushrooms. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until mushrooms have softened, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in bok choy and green onions. Stir in wontons until cooked through, about 2-4 minutes. Serve immediately.

Ginger Chicken Wontons (Low Carb) image

This is a somersize recipe, but I use it even though I am not on the diet. You can use wonton wrappers but it makes this a level 2.use with Gingered soy sauce or Chinese hot mustard for dipping sauce.

Time 30m

Yield 3 batches, 2-4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 lb ground chicken
1 large egg
1 teaspoon ground ginger
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup green onion, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
oil (for frying)

Steps:

  • In large bowl combine chicken, egg, green onion and spices.
  • Heat oil to 375 degrees.
  • Carefully put heaping teaspoons of mixture in hot oil.
  • Cook 8-10 at a time until golden brown and juices are no longer pink.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve with Chinese hot mustard or gingered soy sauce.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ginger: Fresh ginger has a more intense flavor than ground ginger, and it will give your wontons a more authentic taste.
  • Don't overcook the chicken: Chicken can easily become dry and tough, so be careful not to overcook it. Cook the chicken until it is just cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Use a good quality wonton wrapper: Wonton wrappers can vary in quality, so it's important to use a good quality wrapper that won't break or tear when you're cooking them.
  • Be careful not to overfill the wontons: If you overfill the wontons, they will be difficult to fold and they may break when you're cooking them.
  • Cook the wontons in a single layer: When you're cooking the wontons, make sure to cook them in a single layer so that they cook evenly.
  • Serve the wontons with your favorite dipping sauce: Wontons can be served with a variety of dipping sauces, such as soy sauce, chili sauce, or ginger sauce.

Conclusion:

Ginger chicken wontons are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. They're perfect for a party or a potluck, and they're also a great way to use up leftover chicken. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make these delicious wontons at home.
