SWEET AND SPICY GINGER BEER PULLED PORK

Sweet and Spicy Ginger Beer Pulled Pork image

This is a relaxed slow cooker recipe. I've never really measured ingredients out as I've gone, but the end result is absolutely amazing. I never even use BBQ sauce, but you can if you want. Feel free to play with the ingredients, more or less here and there, to suit the tastes of your family. And get ready for a whole lot of mmmmmmm.

Tips:

  • Choosing the right cut of pork: For pulled pork, select a pork shoulder or pork butt. These cuts have a good amount of fat, which helps keep the meat moist and flavorful during the long cooking process.
  • Preparing the pork: Before cooking, trim excess fat from the pork shoulder. You can also score the pork with a sharp knife, which will help the flavors penetrate deeper into the meat.
  • Using a flavorful rub: A dry rub is essential for adding flavor to the pulled pork. Combine spices like paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and brown sugar to create a flavorful rub.
  • Cooking the pork: Cook the pork shoulder in a slow cooker or oven at a low temperature for several hours. This will allow the meat to become tender and fall apart easily.
  • Adding ginger beer: Ginger beer is a key ingredient in this recipe, as it adds a unique sweetness and spiciness to the pulled pork. Pour ginger beer over the pork during the last hour of cooking.
  • Shredding the pork: Once the pork is cooked, use two forks to shred it into small pieces. This will make it easier to serve and eat.
  • Serving the pulled pork: Serve the pulled pork on slider buns or with your favorite sides such as coleslaw, baked beans, or mashed potatoes.

Ginger beer pulled pork is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a summer cookout or potluck.
