GINGER APPLE SALAD

Ginger Apple Salad image

This is a recipe I adopted because it sounded interesting. It took me a while to get around to making it, which is too bad because I thought it was really delicious. For an apple salad, it will keep fairly well in the fridge; we ate the leftovers a day later and they were still in good condition. The main change I have made from the original recipe is to cut the number of apples in half. It still makes quite a lot, and plenty for 4 servings.

Nutrition Facts :

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: For this salad, it's best to use firm, crisp apples that will hold their shape when sliced. Some good options include Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Braeburn apples.
  • Use fresh ginger: Fresh ginger has a more pungent flavor than ground ginger, so it's best to use it in this salad. If you don't have fresh ginger, you can substitute 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger.
  • Don't overdress the salad: A little bit of dressing goes a long way in this salad. If you add too much, the salad will be soggy and the flavors will be overwhelmed.
  • Serve the salad immediately: This salad is best served immediately after it's made. The apples will start to brown if they sit for too long.

Conclusion:

This ginger-apple salad is a refreshing and delicious way to enjoy crisp, fresh apples. The zesty ginger dressing adds a nice kick of flavor, and the walnuts add a crunchy texture. This salad is perfect for a light lunch or side dish. It's also a great way to use up any leftover apples you have on hand.
