BEER FLOATS

Beer Floats image

Depending on whom you talk to, making ice cream floats with beer is either a genius idea, or a horrible mistake. The key is to choose a beer that's on the toasty, malty, sweeter side, and stay away from beers that are too hoppy, dry, and bitter. Here I pair coffee ice cream with stout and vanilla, the safest option, with a Belgian raspberry sour (or any fruity beer). I'd make a small test glass first, to make sure it works for your palate.

ROOT BEER FLOAT COFFEE RECIPE

Root Beer Float Coffee Recipe image

During the hot summer months, it can be a lot of fun to find new beverages to keep us cool. A long-standing favorite is the root beer float, and it has gone unchanged for decades, just root beer, vanilla, and vanilla ice cream. However, we think we can surprise you by spicing up the old standard with coffee.

Categories     Dessert

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 scoops Vanilla bean ice cream
1 scoop Coffee ice cream
¼ cup Root beer

Steps:

  • Gather your ingredients.
  • For each member of your family, place a tall glass in the freezer and let it chill for at least five minutes while you are getting your ingredients together.
  • To begin creating your coffee root beer float, place one scoop of ice cream into each glass and pour half of the root beer on top.
  • Use a long but small spoon to mash the vanilla ice cream and root beer together until fairly smooth. The better it's blended, the better it will be.
  • Add one scoop of coffee ice cream, one scoop of vanilla ice cream, and the remaining root beer.
  • Serve.

Tips:

  • Choose the right coffee. Gevalia Kaffe is a medium-roast coffee with a smooth, rich flavor that pairs well with the sweetness of root beer. If you don't have Gevalia Kaffe on hand, you can use another medium-roast coffee, such as Folgers or Maxwell House.
  • Brew your coffee strong. This will help to balance out the sweetness of the root beer. If you're using a drip coffee maker, use two scoops of coffee instead of one.
  • Chill your coffee and root beer. This will make the float even more refreshing. You can chill your coffee in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or you can place it in the freezer for 15-20 minutes.
  • Use a tall glass. This will give you plenty of room for the coffee, root beer, and ice cream. You can also use a mug if you prefer.
  • Add the ice cream last. This will help to keep the float from melting too quickly. You can use any flavor of ice cream you like, but vanilla or chocolate are classic choices.

Conclusion:

Gevalia coffee root beer floats are a delicious and refreshing treat that are perfect for any occasion. They're easy to make and only require a few simple ingredients. So next time you're looking for a sweet and bubbly pick-me-up, give Gevalia coffee root beer floats a try!
