1 Tbsp sugar
1/2 c warm water (110° to 115°)
1/3 c shortening, melted and cooled to lukewarm
1/2 c sugar
1 egg, beaten
3 1/2-4 cups all-purpose flour, divided

Tips:

  • Use fresh or frozen peaches for the best flavor. If using frozen peaches, thaw them completely before using.
  • Be sure to drain the peaches well before adding them to the batter. This will prevent the cake from becoming too wet.
  • For a crumbly topping, use cold butter and flour. If the butter is too warm, it will melt and the topping will be greasy.
  • Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Overbaking will dry out the cake.
  • Serve the cake warm or at room temperature. It can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

German Peach Coffee Cake is a delicious and easy-to-make coffee cake that is perfect for any occasion.
