A chewy chocolate cookie topped with a German chocolate icing. Very good, and they freeze wonderfully if you have any left to freeze. Do not substitute canned frosting or you will be disappointed.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor. A good semisweet or bittersweet chocolate will work well.
  • Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature before creaming it with the sugar. This will help the cookies to be light and fluffy.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the cookies tough.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the cookies to keep their shape.
  • Use a small cookie scoop or a teaspoon to measure out the dough. This will help the cookies to be uniform in size.
  • Bake the cookies until the edges are just beginning to brown. Overbaking will make the cookies dry.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Conclusion:

German Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With their rich chocolate flavor and gooey pecan filling, these cookies are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give these cookies a try!
